Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as portrayed at approximately 64 years of age, after the portrait by Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The Queen is depicted wearing the George IV State Diadem, a pearl necklace, and drop earrings, with fine detail in the hair and regalia. The surrounding legend reads 'ELIZABETH II' at top and 'CANADA 50 CENTS' below, all in Latin script. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a smooth field, characteristic of the proof finish.
