Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded with hair styled up, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs above the portrait, with CANADA and 50 CENTS inscribed in the lower field. This portrait is the Dora de Pédery-Hunt effigy as used on Canadian coinage of the period.

Reverse description Two fully open wild rose blossoms rendered with selective gold plating applied to the petals, their stamens finely detailed in the centre of each bloom. To the left, an unplated silver sprig of rose foliage with intricately engraved serrated leaves occupies the background field. The date 2005 is inscribed in script in the upper right of the field, and the engraver's initials CP appear at lower left near the rim. The composition contrasts the warm gold tone of the flowers against the frosted silver of the leaves, creating a naturalistic two-tone effect characteristic of this Royal Canadian Mint flower series.
