| Obverse description | Selectively gold-plated effigy of King George V facing left, crowned and robed in coronation regalia with ornate chain of office and ermine-trimmed mantle, rendered in the classic portrait style originally engraved by Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal. The king wears the Imperial State Crown, its details finely rendered with high relief. The circumferential Latin legend reads GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND:IMP: around the upper field, with the engraver's initials B.M. visible at the lower right. The portrait and crown are finished in selective gold plating against a mirror-polished silver field, creating a striking two-tone proof effect. |

| Reverse description | A wreath of selectively gold-plated Canadian maple leaves, tied at the base with a ribbon bow, frames the central field. Surmounting the wreath at the top is a gold-plated Imperial crown. The denomination 50 CENTS and country name CANADA are inscribed in the central field, with the centennial date span 1917-2017 appearing below, separated by a short rule. The reverse faithfully reproduces the classic wreath design of the original 1917 Canadian fifty-cent piece, with the selective gold plating on the botanical elements contrasting elegantly against the frosted and mirrored proof silver surfaces. |
