Tuvalu's licensing arrangement with MGM and Eon Productions has produced a long-running series of James Bond film coins, of which this is one entry. The arrangement is commercially straightforward: Tuvalu holds legal tender status as an Australian dollar-pegged territory, which gives private mints a convenient issuing vehicle for collector pieces that technically qualify as currency while never approaching actual circulation.
