Reverse description The reverse presents a finely detailed naturalistic composition of three cougar kittens (Felis concolor) arranged in a rocky, wooded setting, engraved by Stan Witten. One kitten is depicted perched atop a log in the upper field, a second crouches playfully in the middle ground, and a third reclines in the foreground at lower left. A cluster of wildflowers is visible to the left of the group, lending a sense of habitat and depth to the scene. The scientific name 'Felis concolor' appears in italic lettering at the lower left field, the denomination '50 CENTS' and date '1996' arc along the right periphery, and the country name 'CANADA' is inscribed in large letters along the lower rim. The engraver's initials 'DJH' appear in the lower right field.
