Reverse description The reverse depicts a dramatic Calgary Stampede scene featuring a bucking bronco with a rodeo rider in full action above, and a chuck wagon race with outriders and a covered wagon below, evoking the dual spectacle of the annual Alberta exhibition. The composition captures intense movement and energy across the field, with fine detail in the horses, figures, and wagon. The engraver's initials MG appear in the lower right field. The legend ALBERTA arcs along both the upper left and upper right, flanking the date 2002 at the top centre.

Additional information

Issued to mark the Calgary Stampede's centennial, though the Stampede itself was founded in 1912 — making 2002 the 90th anniversary, not the 100th. The Royal Canadian Mint has occasionally issued commemoratives on non-centennial milestones for the event, and this is one of them.
