| 背面描述 | A detailed rendering of a pig standing in profile upon a bed of decorative leaves, occupying the central field. The Chinese character 猪 (pig) appears to the right of the animal, referencing the Lunar Year of the Pig in the Chinese zodiac. The date 2007 is inscribed across the lower field in spaced numerals, with the denomination and fineness inscription 1/2 OZ 999 SILVER positioned along the lower periphery. |

Australia's Lunar Series I ran from 1996 through 2007, with the Pig closing out the twelve-year cycle. The Royal Australian Mint produced these in both base-metal and silver versions, the latter aimed squarely at the collector and bullion market that had grown substantially through the 1990s as Chinese-Australian communities embraced the coins as Lunar New Year gifts. The series effectively pioneered the now-crowded field of annual lunar bullion issues from sovereign mints worldwide.
Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, introduced in 1998, makes its final appearance on a Pig coin here before the series concluded.
