Obverse description The fourth-portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, faces right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery, with AUSTRALIA and the date 2006 along the right. The engraver's initials IRB appear truncated below the Queen's neck. The design is set within the characteristic twelve-sided dodecagonal flan of the Australian fifty-cent coin.
