| Obverse description | The fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and facial features. The Queen wears the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, modelled by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation of the bust. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left periphery, with AUSTRALIA curving along the upper right, and the date 2006 positioned at the lower right. The design follows the standard dodecagonal flan format adopted for Australian fifty-cent coins. |
