Aanvullende informatie

New Zealand's commemorative gold miniature program has produced dozens of issues, but the Endeavour holds specific local weight: Cook's 1769 transit-of-Venus voyage brought him into the Pacific under Admiralty orders, with a second sealed instruction to search for the southern continent. That secondary mission resulted in the first European charting of New Zealand's coastline — both islands, over six months. The 2021 issue falls in the broader cluster of Cook bicentenary commemoratives that circulated through New Zealand's numismatic program across 2019–2021, marking the 250th anniversary of that first contact.
