Obverse description The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, is depicted in right-facing profile bust, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left periphery, while AUSTRALIA and the date 2016 arc along the right, all in raised Latin lettering. The engraver's initials IRB appear in small relief below the truncation of the neck. The dodecagonal flan frames the portrait within a flat, unadorned field.

Reverse description The reverse presents a richly detailed battlefield scene commemorating the Battle of Pozières, fought in 1916 on the Western Front during World War I. Australian soldiers are depicted in high relief advancing through a devastated landscape of shattered tree stumps, shell craters, and churned earth, evoking the harrowing conditions endured by the Australian Imperial Force. The denomination 50 appears in bold numerals at the upper centre of the field, while the date 1916 is rendered in small figures at the lower left. The legend POZIERES is inscribed in raised Latin lettering along the lower periphery, with the designer's initials EL present in the field. The composition was engraved by Eliza Solin.
