Obverse description The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, faces right wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The queen's portrait is rendered in high relief against a flat field. The surrounding legend reads ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2018, with the designer's initials IRB truncated below the portrait. The inscription is presented in Roman capital letters following the arc of the coin's dodecagonal border.

Reverse description The reverse features a pad-printed polychrome depiction of a 1977 Ford XC Falcon Hardtop rendered in white with red and blue racing stripes, presented in dynamic three-quarter perspective. The vehicle is superimposed over stylised racing speed lines that extend to the right of the field, behind which the denomination 50 CENTS is displayed. The legend FORD MOTORSPORT LEGEND arcs above the central motif, while XC FALCON HARDTOP 1977 appears in the lower field. The vivid colour printing technique contrasts against the struck metallic background of the coin.
