Reverse description The central field is bisected vertically by a stylised bamboo shoot. To the left, an RAAF bomber aircraft is depicted in flight, evoking aerial operations conducted during the Malayan Emergency. To the right, three enemy combatants are rendered in the dense jungle undergrowth, capturing the guerrilla nature of the conflict. The denomination '50' and the inscription 'MALAYAN EMERGENCY' appear as the primary legend, commemorating Australia's military involvement in the campaign fought between 1948 and 1960.
