Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted in right-facing profile with a girlhood tiara and drop earrings. The Queen's hair is rendered in finely detailed, layered curls, and her neckline is lightly draped. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery, while AUSTRALIA and the date 2018 arc along the right, all in raised Latin lettering. The engraver's initials IRB appear discreetly below the truncation of the bust. The design occupies the full dodecagonal field with a clean, unadorned background.

Reverse description The reverse features a central ornate medallion framing a raised effigy of AC/DC guitarist Angus Young in his iconic schoolboy uniform, playing guitar in a dynamic pose amid radiating lines. The medallion is encircled by an elaborate sunburst of feathered wings, evoking the band's classic imagery. The bold AC/DC logo, rendered in the band's distinctive typeface, appears prominently below the central device. Two large pad-printed golden lightning bolt symbols flank the design on either side, applied via the pad printing technique to add vivid colour. The arc legend 45 YEARS OF THUNDER curves along the upper periphery, while FIFTY CENTS is inscribed along the lower border, with the date range 1973-2018 incorporated into the design.
