Reverse description The redesigned Royal Coat of Arms of Canada dominates the central field, based on the arms originally proclaimed by King George V on November 21, 1921 and updated in 1994. The shield is supported by a lion rampant guardant on the dexter and a unicorn on the sinister, with the royal crown above and a ribbon bearing the motto at the base. The face value '50 CENTS' appears in the lower field, with 'CANADA' arcing above or flanking the arms, and the date inscribed in the exergue or upper field depending on the year of issue. The revised arms feature updated heraldic details introduced in the 1994 proclamation.
