| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as a young woman of approximately 37 years, modelled by Arnold Machin, wearing a tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA arcs along the upper periphery, identifying the sovereign with the Latin abbreviated title 'by the Grace of God, Queen.' The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the facial features and jewellery. The field is flat and unadorned, drawing full attention to the royal effigy. |

| Reverse description | The Royal Coat of Arms of Canada, as proclaimed by King George V on November 21, 1921 and updated in 1957, occupies the central field. The date is divided by the arms at the upper field, with CANADA appearing to the left and 50 CENTS to the right. The engraver's initials T S appear at the lower right of the design. |
