| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse features the second portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Arnold Machin, depicted in right-facing profile with a tiara set in her hair and a lightly draped truncation at the shoulder. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the left arc of the field, while D·G·REGINA curves along the right arc, both in raised Latin lettering. A finely executed beaded border encircles the entire design. The effigy presents the Queen with characteristic naturalistic detail in the hair and facial features, rendered in a refined neoclassical style consistent with Machin's work for Commonwealth coinage. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse displays the full Arms of Canada, centrally positioned and rendered in fine relief, featuring a quartered shield with the arms of England, Scotland, Ireland, and France in the upper quarters and a sprig of maple leaves in base. The shield is supported on the dexter by a lion rampant and on the sinister by a unicorn, both rendered in detailed heraldic style. Above the shield rests a crested imperial crown surmounting a wreath, flanked by crossed lances bearing flags. The motto A MARI USQUE AD MARE is inscribed on a ribbon at the base of the achievement. The legends CANADA to the left, 50 CENTS to the right, and the date 1977 appear in the upper field, with a beaded border encircling the entire design. |
