Obverse description The obverse features the second portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Arnold Machin, depicted in right-facing profile with a tiara set in her hair and a lightly draped truncation at the shoulder. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the left arc of the field, while D·G·REGINA curves along the right arc, both in raised Latin lettering. A finely executed beaded border encircles the entire design. The effigy presents the Queen with characteristic naturalistic detail in the hair and facial features, rendered in a refined neoclassical style consistent with Machin's work for Commonwealth coinage.
