Obverse description Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as a young woman of approximately 27 years of age, facing right, her head crowned with a laurel wreath, rendered in the style of the portrait used on Canadian coinage from 1953 to 1964. The legend arcs around the upper field, and the design evokes the first-generation Elizabethan portrait by Mary Gillick. The surfaces exhibit a mirror-like proof finish with frosted relief.
