Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of King Edward VII, rendered in high relief after the design by George William de Saulles, whose initials 'DES' appear in the lower field. The king is depicted wearing the Imperial State Crown and robes of state with an ermine-trimmed mantle, and a decorative collar is visible at the truncation. The circumferential legend reads EDWARDVS VII DEI GRATIA REX IMPERATOR, separated from the toothed border by a raised rim.
