| Reverse description | Three heraldic shields arranged side by side in the central field: at left, a shield bearing a horse; at center, the coat of arms of the town of Seurre surmounted by a banner inscribed 'LOYALE ET SEURE' and charged with a lion; at right, a shield also charged with a lion passant. The denomination '50 CENTS' is boldly inscribed along the upper field. Below the shields, flanked by small laurel sprigs, the date range '14·7 au 15·8 1997' is inscribed, with 'de' and 'SEURRE' completing the legend in the lower field. |

| Additional information |
Seurre is a small Burgundian town on the Saône, and its 1997 brass jeton falls into a well-documented French tradition of municipally issued emergency or commemorative fractional tokens that persisted long after such pieces had any practical monetary function. By the late twentieth century these were produced almost exclusively for local festivals, markets, or numismatic societies — circulating briefly as fair currency before ending up in collector envelopes.
