The Solomon Islands has become one of the more prolific issuers of licensed Beatrix Potter numismatic products, producing collector pieces under arrangements that have little to do with the islands' own monetary history. Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, introduced in Potter's 1905 book of the same name, was based on a hedgehog Potter kept as a pet — the character's name borrowed from a child she knew in the Lake District village of Sawrey.
Silver-plated iron rather than sterling or fine silver proper keeps the price point accessible for the mass collector market.
