| Aanvullende informatie |
The Hawker Hurricane is routinely overshadowed by the Spitfire in popular memory, but RAF Fighter Command's own records confirm the Hurricane accounted for more German aircraft destroyed during the Battle of Britain than all other defenses combined. It was a more stable gun platform and could absorb far greater battle damage — a product of its fabric-covered fuselage over a tubular steel frame, which ground crews could patch with materials close at hand.
Solomon Islands has issued extensively in this colorized silver-plated iron format since the mid-2010s, targeting the collector novelty market rather than circulation.
