Obverse description Right-facing bare-headed effigy of King Charles III occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail including hair texture and jacket collar. The legend arcs around the upper periphery reading CHARLES III · 2026 · SOLOMON ISLANDS, with the denomination · 50 CENTS · inscribed along the lower border. The engraver's initials DT appear in small incuse letters to the right of the portrait, below the shoulder truncation. The design is struck on a gold-plated heptagonal flan with a prooflike mirror finish.

Additional information

The Solomon Islands has issued commemorative pieces under licensing arrangements for decades, with the crown-sized 50 cent denomination used almost exclusively for this purpose — it bears no relationship to any circulating coinage in the archipelago. Charles III ascended following Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, making 2026 issues among the earliest commemorative series to fully cycle through a new reign under Commonwealth issuer agreements.
