| Reverse description | Full-colour applied design depicting a bust-length portrait of Sir Francis Drake to the right, rendered after a period oil painting, showing the Elizabethan explorer in dark doublet with a ruffled white lace collar and pink sash, wearing a pendant jewel. To the left, the galleon Golden Hind is shown under full sail on a turbulent sea, with two seabirds in flight above. Foreground elements include a navigational clock and a Union Flag draped at lower centre. The inscriptions 'GOLDEN HIND' arch along the upper field and '· SIR · FRANCIS DRAKE' appears in a banner across the lower portion of the design. |

| Additional information |
Drake's circumnavigation of 1577–1580 made him the first captain to complete the voyage in command throughout — Magellan died in the Philippines in 1521, leaving his crew to finish without him. The Solomon Islands have no historical connection to Drake, making this a purely commercial commemorative issue produced for the collector market rather than any sovereign or ceremonial purpose.
