The pairing of Charles III with Oliver Cromwell on a single coin is historically pointed — Cromwell signed the death warrant of Charles I in 1649, and the republic he built collapsed within two years of his own death, directly enabling the Restoration of the monarchy. That the Solomon Islands, a Commonwealth realm, issued this piece adds a quiet irony the designers almost certainly intended.
