| 背面描述 | A full-color photographic print applied to the central field depicts Allied soldiers disembarking from a landing craft numbered '82' during an amphibious assault, commemorating the Aleutian Islands Campaign of World War II. A stylized gold maple leaf symbol is positioned in the lower central field, evoking the Canadian contribution to the campaign. Bold incuse lettering 'ALEUTIAN ISLANDS CAMPAIGN' arcs diagonally across the upper portion of the design, with the campaign date '06-03-1942' inscribed along the uppermost rim. |

The Aleutian Islands campaign of 1942–43 is among the least-documented theaters of the Pacific War — fought in near-permanent fog, across volcanic terrain, against weather that killed as reliably as enemy fire. The Japanese occupied Attu and Kiska in June 1942, the only seizure of U.S. soil during the conflict. The retaking of Attu in May 1943 cost American forces nearly 600 dead and over 1,000 cold-weather casualties for an island held by roughly 2,600 Japanese defenders, almost none of whom surrendered.
Solomon Islands has issued extensively in this gold-plated iron format for the collector market, with no circulation intent.
