| Reverse description | The reverse features a coloured design inspired by Stuart Devlin's iconic Order of Australia medal, incorporating the distinctive ribbon colours of the Order of Australia, the Bravery decorations, and the National medals. The central motif draws from the circular medallion format of the original award, rendered with colour application highlighting the ribbon bands. The legend 'AUSTRALIAN HONOURS AND AWARDS' arcs around the upper field, with the commemorative dates '1975 - 2025' and the denomination '50' completing the inscription in the lower portion of the field. |

| Additional information |
Australia's honours system was formally separated from the British Imperial honours framework in 1975 under the Whitlam government, establishing the Order of Australia as the centrepiece of an independent national structure. This coin marks the system's fiftieth anniversary. Charles III became its sovereign head upon accession in 2022, the first monarch to hold that role without having inherited it from the system's founding under Elizabeth II.
