| Obverse description | The obverse features the first effigy of King Charles III for Australian coinage, sculpted by Martin Jennings, depicted as a mature bare-headed bust facing left in contemporary attire. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the left periphery, with AUSTRALIA curving along the upper right, the date 2024 descending on the right, and the denomination 50 CENTS inscribed along the lower rim. Two raised dots flank the base of the portrait on either side, and the engraver's initials DT appear incuse below the truncation. The design is rendered in crisp relief against a flat field befitting the dodecagonal flan. |
