Additional information

The Netherlands Antilles as a political entity was dissolved on 10 October 2010, splitting into two separate constituent countries — Curaçao and Sint Maarten — while Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba became special municipalities of the Netherlands proper. The Centrale Bank van de Nederlandse Antillen continued issuing coinage under its existing mandate during the transition, which explains the extended date range spanning two Dutch monarchs: Beatrix abdicated in April 2013, and Willem-Alexander's effigy was introduced on subsequent strikes without interrupting the series.

The shift to bronze-plated steel from earlier solid compositions was a cost-driven decision common across Caribbean territories during the 1980s.
