Reverse description A coconut palm tree leaning to the left grows from a sandy shoreline, its fronds spread prominently across the upper field, with a stylized ocean or lagoon rendered in the lower field. Six five-pointed stars are arranged in an arc along the lower periphery. The curved legend KEELING COCOS ISLANDS arcs across the upper border, with the denomination 50 CENTS inscribed to the right of the palm, and the date 1977 in the lower exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.
