| Obverse description | Printed entirely in green, the obverse centres on a large ornate vignette of a mythological dragon or demon mask framed by sweeping foliate scrollwork in a baroque guilloche style, with the denomination numeral '50' in a circular cartouche at its heart. The inscription 'GOUVERNEMENT GÉNÉRAL DE L'INDOCHINE' runs along the top border, with '50' numerals at each upper corner and 'CINQUANTE CENTS' in a panel at the foot. Signature lines for 'LE TRÉSORIER GÉNÉRAL' and 'LE DIRECTEUR DES FINANCES' appear to the left and right respectively, with the designer's name 'PHAM-NGOC-KHUE' and printer's imprint 'IDEO - HANOI' in the lower margin. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, also printed in green, presents a central rectangular cartouche bearing a French legal warning text regarding counterfeiting, flanked on either side by stylised dragon heads and sprays of rice or palm fronds rising from the lower border. The denomination is expressed multilingually in the four corners: 'NĂM HÀO' in Vietnamese (upper left), Khmer script (upper right), and Chinese characters in the lower corners. A geometric guilloche border frames the entire composition. |
