| Anmerkungen |
One of hundreds of small-denomination emergency notes issued by Catalan municipalities during the Civil War, when the Republic's central banking system had effectively collapsed and local councils were left to fill the gap. Xerta — a village on the Ebre in Tarragona province — issued its own paper scrip out of necessity, not any formal monetary authority.
Turró catalogues these localitat notes extensively; #2917 places this among the later 1937 emissions, by which point the Francoist advance through Aragon was beginning to close in on the region. The Ebre front would form less than a year later, just kilometres away.
