One of hundreds of local emergency issues that flooded Catalonia after the July 1936 uprising disrupted coin supply across the Republic. Municipal governments — many of them tiny — were effectively forced to print their own fractional currency because the central authorities couldn't distribute small change fast enough. Voltregà, a small town in Osona comarca, was no exception.

El Secretariat Català printed a significant volume of these municipal wartime issues out of Barcelona, making their work identifiable across numerous Turró-catalogued pieces from this period.
