Tremp is a small town in the Pallars Jussà comarca of Lleida, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish municipalities, it issued its own fractional paper currency during the Civil War after the Republican government authorized local emergency emissions in 1936–37. These municipal notes filled the void left by hoarded coins, which vanished from circulation almost immediately after the conflict began. The Turró reference places this within the vast taxonomy of guerra civil locals — a collecting category that rewards patience, since many issues survive in tiny numbers and rarely surface outside specialist auctions.
