Opmerkingen

Torroella de Fluvià is a minor municipality in the Alt Empordà comarca of Girona province, and this 50 céntimos note is one of the thousands of fractional emergency issues that flooded Catalonia after the outbreak of the Civil War in July 1936. The Republic's hoarding crisis stripped small coinage from circulation almost overnight, forcing even village-level bodies to print their own fiduciary scrip. Turró's catalog places this at #2560 — deep into a numbering system that itself reflects how many issuing authorities, large and small, scrambled to fill the void.
