Torres del Obispo is a village in the Huesca province of Aragon — during the Civil War, Republican municipal councils across the region issued their own emergency fractional currency to compensate for the near-total disappearance of metal coinage from circulation. These local emisiones were authorized under broad Republican wartime decrees but were produced with whatever materials and printing capability a small municipality could muster, which is why the card stock here is heavier than anything a banking printer would sanction.
At roughly the size of a large postage stamp, this is among the smallest municipal issues documented for Huesca province.
