| 表面の説明 | Printed in blue letterpress on a pale ochre ground, the note is enclosed within a simple ruled border over a geometric underprint. The full text of the municipal obligation and guarantee is set in multiple typeset lines across the face, with the denomination integrated in numerals within the typographic layout. The design is wholly utilitarian in character, typical of Spanish Civil War-era municipal emergency issues. |

Tírvia is a tiny mountain municipality in the Pallars Sobirà comarca of Lleida, with a population that has rarely exceeded a few hundred souls. During the Spanish Civil War, the Republican government's decree of September 1936 authorized local authorities — down to the smallest village — to issue their own emergency fractional currency to alleviate the catastrophic shortage of small change caused by silver and copper coin hoarding. Tírvia's issue is among the most geographically remote of all Catalan municipal emissions.
The sole security measure is a handstamp, which in practice varied in placement and ink saturation, making authentication a matter of knowing what the correct stamp looks like rather than relying on any mechanical consistency.
