Taradell is a small municipality in Osona, inland Catalonia, and like hundreds of other Spanish towns it issued its own fractional paper currency during the Civil War after the Republican government's decree of November 1936 effectively sanctioned local emergency coinage. The C.A.M. printer in Barcelona supplied a significant number of these municipal issues across the region, which accounts for the family resemblance many Osona notes share despite coming from administratively separate towns.

Turró catalogues over 3,000 such local issues. Taradell's population at the time was under 2,000, making its emissions among the smaller-volume runs in the series.
