Serra d'Almos is a small village in the Ribera d'Ebre comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of similarly sized municipalities during the Spanish Civil War, it issued its own fractional paper money after the Republican government's 1936 decree authorizing local emergency currency. The collapse of metallic coinage circulation — silver and copper hoarded almost immediately after July 1936 — forced even the smallest ajuntaments to fill the gap themselves.

Imprenta Solé of Tarragona produced notes for numerous Catalan municipalities during this period, which means the printing quality here is competent but the design clearly local in origin. Turró catalogues this as #2355.
