Comments

Sardañola and Ripollet are two small municipalities on the northern outskirts of Barcelona that were collectively administered by anarcho-syndicalist committees during the Civil War. The Federación Local de Colectividades — a federation of worker-run collectivized enterprises — issued these small-denomination emergency notes to facilitate exchange within the local economy after the July 1936 uprising effectively severed normal monetary channels. Joan Sabadell was a Barcelona printer with no particular distinction in security printing, which shows in the relatively simple execution.

The AL#131 reference places this within the broader Arxiu Local series documenting Catalan Civil War-era local issues, of which hundreds exist.
