One of hundreds of local emergency notes — known collectively as "moneda de necessitat" — issued by Catalan municipalities during the Civil War after the collapse of small-denomination coinage in circulation. The Republican government's inability to supply adequate fractional currency left town councils scrambling to fill the gap themselves, often contracting whatever local printer was available. In Reus, that was the Imprenta De Ferrando.

Turró catalogues this as #2076, placing it firmly within the documented Reus municipal series, which ran across multiple denominations throughout 1937.
