50 Céntimos Puigverd d'Agramunt

Puigverd d'Agramunt is a small municipality in the Lleida province, and this 50 céntimos note is one of the thousands of locally issued emergency fractional notes — paper money (*moneda de paper*) — produced across Republican Catalonia during the Civil War when small-denomination coinage vanished almost entirely from circulation. The Generalitat de Catalunya had authorized municipal councils to issue their own scrip, and hundreds did, most in tiny print runs.

Imprenta Miquel Pera in nearby Agramunt handled the printing, a practical arrangement common in rural Lleida, where small councils relied on the nearest town's commercial press.
