| 备注 |
Pedro Muñoz is a small municipality in the province of Ciudad Real, Castilla-La Mancha. This 50 céntimos piece belongs to the enormous wave of locally-issued emergency fractional currency — "billetes de necesidad" — that flooded Republican-held Spain in 1937 after the Civil War's disruption of the Banco de España's supply lines made small change effectively impossible to find. Hundreds of municipal councils, trade unions, and local committees printed their own, often on whatever card stock was available.
The thick substrate was almost certainly a practical choice dictated by material scarcity rather than any design intent — thin paper wore out fast in daily transaction use.
