Òdena is a small municipality in the Anoia comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of similarly sized towns, it issued its own fractional emergency currency during the Spanish Civil War — the result of a near-total collapse in small coin availability after 1936. The Republican government's decree authorizing local authorities to print their own vales and cupons gave cover to an enormous variety of improvised issues, many produced on whatever card stock the local council had to hand.

Turró catalogues this as #1670, which places it firmly within the documented Catalan Civil War municipal series. Surviving examples are typically found creased or lightly soiled — these circulated hard in a very small community.
