Noblejas is a small municipality in Toledo province, and this 50 céntimos note is a product of the fractional currency crisis that swept Republican-held Spain from mid-1936 onward. The hoarding and disappearance of metal coinage after the outbreak of the Civil War left local councils scrambling to produce their own small-denomination paper to keep commerce moving. The Consejo Municipal responded by contracting the job to the Imprenta del Consejo Provincial in nearby Ocaña — a practical choice given the town's limited resources.

Signatures by the Presidente and Depositario were applied individually, which means unsigned remainders exist and are sometimes misrepresented as issued examples.
