Naval is a small municipality in the Huesca province of Aragon, and this note is one of hundreds of hyper-local emergency emissions produced during the Spanish Civil War after the anarchist CNT-FAI collectivized the local economy and the Republican government's monetary supply collapsed at the village level. The Colectividad Libre — a "free collective" — issued scrip to keep internal trade moving when pesetas simply weren't available in sufficient quantity.
Gráficas Bobés in Barcelona handled printing for a significant number of these Aragonese collective issues, which is why notes from geographically distant villages share recognizable typographic characteristics. The Gari Montalban catalogue reference places this firmly within the documented series, though surviving examples are scarce given the near-total disruption of the region after Franco's forces suppressed the Aragon collectives in August 1937.
