Molins de Rei — the town dropped its Castilian-inflected name in favour of "Molins de Llobregat" during the Republic — was one of hundreds of Catalan municipalities that issued fractional emergency currency after the Civil War disrupted the supply of small-denomination coinage. The CNT-FAI's effective control of the Barcelona money supply in 1936–37 made municipal scrip not just convenient but necessary for daily commerce.
Turró catalogues this issue cleanly, but surviving examples are typically found with uneven ink coverage from El Secretariat Català's press — a political printing house, not a specialist security printer.
