Opmerkingen

Mazarrón, a small mining town in Murcia, was one of hundreds of Spanish municipalities forced to issue emergency paper fractional currency during the Civil War after Republican authorities struggled to maintain a functioning coin supply. Silver had been hoarded or melted, and the Nationalist blockade made resupply impossible. Local councils stepped in — with wildly varying degrees of printing sophistication.

The Gari Mon #903-B designation indicates a recognized variant within the Mazarrón series, suggesting at least two distinct emissions from this council. Paper quality on these municipally-issued notes was often poor, sourced locally under wartime conditions, and many survivors show brittleness along the folds.
