50 Céntimos La Solana

La Solana is a municipality in Ciudad Real province, Castile–La Mancha, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it resorted to locally issued small-denomination emergency scrip during the Civil War after the Republican government's decree of 1936 effectively sanctioned municipal and cooperative issues to address the collapse of small-change circulation. The Consejo Municipal issues from this region are among the least systematically documented in Gari's catalogue — the "Mon#–" reference signals the note has not been formally assigned a number, which usually means either no verified specimen was available to the cataloguer or the issue came to light after the relevant edition closed.

Thick card stock was a common substrate choice for these issues; it survived handling better than thin paper and was easier to produce locally without specialist printing equipment.
